The club has three full-sized lawns, which are open from April to November and the lawns are maintained by members of the club. We now have our own Club Room with a toilet. changing room, kitchen area and meeting room with a patio adjacent to the lawns.
Club days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday afternoon is set aside for Golf Croquet. Association croquet
is played (up to level play) on Wednesdays starting at 2 o’clock until you want to go home.
Anyone interested should simply turn up on either day (if you're totally new to the game, it doesn't matter
which): no experience is necessary.
The long anticipated influx of scratch and minus players has again failed to materialise, so our association croquet is played almost exclusively under handicap rules. Our members' association handicaps range from 4 to 24, and are predominantly towards the upper end of this range.
A beginners' coaching course is held on Thursday afternoons 2pm till 4pm for six weeks, starting in April. Coaching for improvers is also available every Wednesday. Coaching is provided by a Croquet Association qualified coach.
We run a full program of club tournaments for both golf and association croquet, which are well-supported by the members. Unfortunately, we do not have the necessary resources to stage open tournaments. Since only a couple of our members enter tournaments at other clubs, our contact with other clubs is limited mainly to league and friendly matches.
We currently field teams in the South West Federation's Federation, Intermediate, B League and Golf leagues. We are always happy to receive enquiries about friendly matches at any level.
The membership fee for 2018 is £125 per year. The membership fee is all inclusive and covers your Croquet Association membership, all lawn fees, match fees, match and tournament teas, coffee and biscuits when playing, use of club equipment and lawn maintenance costs.
